Blue Bell B v SWMC ‘A’ 20/01/2012
Team 2.1 Pairs 2.1 Singles 2.4
LETHARGIC CHAMPIONS
SUFFER BLUE BELL BLUES
The Club A suffered their first team game defeat in nearly 2 years as they were defeated
2.1 by a confident Blue Bell B in the eagerly awaited table topping match. Too many
of the league leaders had an off night as they were fortunate to come away with one
very important leg.
The club brought in Paul Hunter in place of a poorly Dave Cormack. The Bell left
out the current merit leader Roger Stevenson.
In the first team leg, the Bell stormed
away in front, mainly due to 2 ton plus scores from Dennis "They love me in Alnwick"
Williams. However, the club did respond brilliantly with a flurry of big scores to
leave Dave "Team Bonding Specialist" Wright x13 but unfortunately he was 2 days camel
ride away from hitting it. This left Clive "How's your back Dennis" Poole finished
to make it 1.0 The next leg followed the same path as the club carried too many players
who were just not at the races. But somehow they fought back and Kev "All inclusive"
Filer hit a bottle 48 (16 x16) to level it up 1.1 The lifeline was not grasped though
as the Bell deservedly took the final leg with that man Poole again hitting the winning
double.
In the pairs, Roory "The Mayfield Mafia can gossip all they like" Collins
and Paul "Punchy" Hunter appeared to have their game in the bag but missed the double
and Danny Troy finished an excellent 74 to pinch the leg. The club replied when the
Chuckle Brothers Pairing of Bill and Dave Wright won an excellent leg to beat Dave
"The Committee Favourite" Scott and Dennis Williams, with a classy Bull finish of
83 by Dave Wright (17, 16 50) The former Bamburgh Bombers pairing of Kev "Sore Back"
Filer and Steve "Is it my shot" Rhodes were soundly beaten by Clive "I can win a
game without Dennis" Poole and Keith Williams.
The club went into the singles with their tails firmly between their legs. Rory "No offers in the transfer window" Collins raced into a huge lead against the impressive Ollie Hawkins but missed 12 darts at the double and the youngster showed him how to finish first dart. Paul Hunter then levelled it up for the Club as he just held sway to beat Danny Troy. Bill Wright then sped down to single figures in only 12 darts, unfortunately he took another 12 to get down to a double and just as Dave Scott looked like he was set to steal the leg, Bill finally hit the winner. Dave Wright won a vital guide against Dennis Williams, kept the advantage throughout and finished x10 first dart to make it 3.1 Clive "What would you do Dennis" Poole then just had too much for Kev Filer. The best was saved until last as Steve "What was the score in the team game?" Rhodes finally replicated some of his much publicised Wednesday night form as he beat Keith Williams in an excellent 17 darts.
A decent night of darts when all 12 players showed glimpses of brilliance but also some moderate darts too. The Club remain 4 points ahead in the team league, with the Bell 1 in front in the pairs and a massive 13 in the singles.
The 2 most consistent players on the night were Bill Wright and Danny Troy.
Supper: 4/10 Iceland still has their buy one get one free offer on.
Beer Rating: 6.5/10 Kev Filer provoked much discussion with his Carlsberg Export. Rory and Steve were moaning before the tops were opened and Bill, normally not one to moan, also whinged but then changed his mind. The rest of the lads were happy with the effort.
Champagne Moment: The Bull finish from Dave Wright
Next Week: Team Knock Out at home v Burnside.

Team Knock-Out SWMC ‘A’ v Burnside 27/01/2012 SWMC ‘A’ Won 3 - 0
CLUB APPLY THE KNOCK OUT BLOW
The Club A booked their place on Finals night with an impressive 3.0 defeat of an
improving Burnside team who played with great confidence but were out-finished at
the business end of the games.
In the first leg it was the Burnside who looked the
more likely side as they hit consistent scores through the team but they faltered
when it came down to hitting the double and this allowed the club to rattle off a
string of big scores and Roory "No shuffle necessary" finished and excellent 92 (60
x16) He really must work on that celebration though.
This did not knock the stuffing
out of the Burnside as they maintained their form to push the Club right down to
the wire. But again it was a quality finish that broke their hearts as Kev "I can
get an all inclusive deal" nailed 63 (51 x6)
This left the Burnside with an uphill
task that they were never able to threaten as the Cup Holders went through the gears
to comfortably make it 3.0 Dave "Take away the pain and leave the swelling" Cormack
hitting the deciding x4.
3 very good team legs played in good spirit by both sides.
All
the remaining pairs and singles were played with some decent darts being thrown by
both teams.
There were no stand-out players for the club as everyone contributed well,
including the Captain who used his treble 12 cover shot to great effect. Tony Green
played well for the Burnside.
Champagne Moments: The Quality finishes from Roory,
Fingers and a cheeky 130 (60, 20 Bull) finish from Steve "Yorksha" Rhodes in the
practice legs. There was also a bit of a "Gay" Fingers Filer celebration that we
hadn't seen before.
Best Fart: Having been stung into action following his dead heat
with Bill "Soup for tea" Wright last week, Roory showed just how full of shit he
is by emptying his cargo all over the bar. No contest. The Burnside lads were concerned
he had some dead moles in his pants.
Supper: 7/10 Irish Stew was a big favourite of
Roory. Did the cardigan slip in for a cheeky plateful?
Next Week: A big game away
to the Shoes A - The lads can't wait for Yorksha's beer selection.
